SELECTION OF RESOURCES I
RECOMMEND YOU CHECK OUT!
SHORT GUIDED YOGA NIDRA MEDITATION
Yoga Nidra helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system – the body’s natural ‘rest and restore’ state. This short guided practice is good for anyone new to meditation or want a quick rest to calm the mind, reduce stress, and support deep relaxation and emotional balance.
I use the meditation often, I use it for a quick reset during my busy work day. Or I will find one of her slightly longer videos to listen to before bed to help calm down my body and prepare it for sleep.
Video created by Ally Boothroyd | Sarovara Yoga- I really like her soft tone of voice and soothing background music throughout her videos. You can check out her channel for more meditation videos. I have linked 2 of my quick favorites below.
POLYVAGAL THEORY AND THE FREEZE RESPONSE
Understanding the nervous system can be incredibly empowering when it comes to healing, stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. I really like the way “Therapy in a Nutshell” explains these complex topics in a simple easy-to-understand way.
These two short videos give a great introduction to the Polyvagal Theory and the freeze response, along with practical ideas to help regulate your nervous system and gently move out of the shutdown and overwhelm. SLEEP SOUNDS TO CALM THE VAGUS NERVE
For anyone with anxiety or feeling anxious at bedtime I recommend the below videos from “Sound Sleep ASMR”. I use these videos to calm my body and mind when to help me sleep. While the 2 videos sound similar, they have actually have a slight variation in them. This channel has several similar sound therapy videos, try a few different ones and see if you can find the best sound therapy for you. Full credit to the original creator – Sound Sleep ASMR.
